Jessica Day enters her eighth season as Head Coach for the Bryan College Volleyball program and tenth season serving the Lady Lions, handling the previous two seasons as an assistant coach.

In addition to overseeing the Women’s Volleyball Program, Coach Day was recently named Senior Woman Leader by Director of Athletics, Jenny Swafford. Her initiative, drive for excellence, self-discipline, and readiness to serve has strengthened our volleyball program and now our entire department will benefit from her leadership. I am excited to see the benefits of her expanding her relationships and her provision of oversight for the eligibility and compliance process. With Coach Day accepting this position, we know that we are taking an immediate step towards excellence.

The NAIA passed legislation in 2021 to create the role of Senior Woman Leader (SWL), a designation to promote meaningful representation of women in the leadership and management of intercollegiate sports on NAIA campuses. All NAIA member institutions need to have developed and fully integrated the senior woman leader role into their athletic department structure by August 1, 2023.

Over the last seven years, Coach Day is 126-91 and 93-45 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. She has coached 59 AAC All-Academic Team members, twelve All-AAC selections, and six AAC All-Freshman Team honorees. Coach Day has also coached 33 NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athletes along with 5 USMC AVCA Academic Teams.

In 2021, Coach day led the Lady Lions to their most successful season under her reign, winning the AAC Regular Season Championship as well as the AAC Tournament Championship. In the 2020 Season, Coach Day led her team to win the AAC Conference Championship and was named AAC Coach of the Year as well as AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year.

Coach Day, formerly Jessica Kaya, was a 4-year stand out for the Lady Lions from 2008-2011. During her playing days, Day garnered numerous athletic and academic awards including, 2008 AAC All-Freshman Team, 2009 Bryan College Defensive Player of the Year, 2010 NAIA All-Scholar Team, and 2011 Academic All-Conference.

Following her graduation in 2012, Coach Day spent one year as Assistant Coach at Georgia Northwestern Technical College. She has also coached Junior Olympic volleyball for various area clubs since her senior year of college.

Jessica currently resides in Dayton, Tenn. with her husband, Jordan, who is the associate head coach for the Bryan College Baseball program, and children Kayleigh (7) and Kyrie (5). She and Jordan are members at New Union Baptist Church in Dayton.
